Kentford Farm Visit
On my way to Pequot Plant Farm on Sunday I noticed the “Open Garden” sign on Rt 184 for Kentford Farm. Dear Reader, I confess I have passed this sign many times and not stopped, this was an extreme oversight on my part.
To quote from their website:
“Kentford Farm is a perennial garden located in the Old Mystic community of Southeastern Connecticut. Kentford Farm is a collection of gardens connected by winding pathways that artfully combine mature trees and plantings with more recently established gardens. The gardens include water features which accent the sites’ historic stone-wall boundaries.
Kentford Farm is complete with an historic home, a barn that houses the garden shop, a stone root cellar and potting sheds. The garden barn offers floral services for all occasions and provides a resting spot for tea or a refreshing beverage after garden strolls.”
While I am sure many of you Garden Clubbers have been to this delightful garden, it is a MUST SEE for all who love a meandering and whimsical garden, chock-a-block with many specimen trees & blooming shrubs and perennials. Ever changing week by week, it is a garden most of us would travel to see by taking a long bus ride. Delightful place; you all must go and see this lovely spot right in our own backyard.
